Abstract

Endometriosis is a disease whereby endometrial-like tissue exists outside the uterus. The exact prevalence of endometriosis is unknown, although it is estimated that up to 10% of women in the general population and up to 50% of subfertile women have the condition.1 It is a chronic inammatory adhesive condition known to be detrimental to fertility. Women with endometriosis may also present with pelvic pain, although severity of pain symptoms may not always reect accurately on the severity of disease.
