MRI Manifestation of Adenomyosis:Correlations with Clinical Symptom

Objective To analyze the MRI manifestations of adenomyosis and correlations between MRI manifestations and clinical symptoms.Materials and Methods Clinical data and MRI findings of 54 patients with adenomyosis confirmed by histopathology were reviewed.Spearman's rank correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between MRI manifestations(diffuse and local adenomyosis) and the clinical symptom(course,degree of pain,CA125).Results There were 20 cases of diffused adenomyosis and 34 cases of local adenomyosis.For 20 cases of diffused adenomyosis,there was significant correlation between thickness of uterine junctional zone and level of serum CA125,also between the number of internal spunctate hyperintensity on T2WI and level of serum CA125.However,thickness of uterine junctional zone and the number of internal spunctate hyperintensity on T2WI had no correlation with the level of serum CA125.For 34 cases of local adenomyosis,the degree of pain had significant correlation with diameter of lesions,the number of internal spunctate hyperintensity on T2WI.There was significant correlation between level of serum CA125 and the number of internal spunctate hyperintensity.Conclusion MRI features of adenomyosishas correlation with clinical symptoms.
