Abstract
Objective:This study was aimed to study the value of enhanced T2 star weighted angiography(ESWAN)magnitude images in the diagnosis of ovarian endometrial cysts.Methods:36patients with surgery and pathology proven ovarian cystic lesions(18patients with 30 endometrial cysts, another 18 patients with 24non-endometrial cysts)were studied retrospectively. The onventional MRI and ESWAN MR images were reviewed independently by two senior radiologists, and concentrated on the presence or absence of signal void within the cyst wall on ESWAN mIP magnitude images. The sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values in terms of differentiating endometrial cysts from other cystic lesions by calculating the signal void within the cyst wall on ESWAN mIP magnitude images were performed and the inter-readers consistency was evaluated. Results:Of the presence or absence of signal void within the cyst wall evaluated on ESWAN mIP magnitude images,52lesions(96.3%,52/54leisons)showed consistency by these two readers, with a Kappa coefficient of0.925,which indicated perfect agreement. The sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values was 90.0%,91.7%,93.1%and 88.0%,respectively.Conclusion:ESWAN magnitude images can provide valuable information for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of ovarian endometrial cysts, and it is helpful to improve the diagnostic accuracy.
