Abstract

Background: This study analyzed Adverse Events (AEs) for linezolid, daptomycin, levofloxacin, and vancomycin used in spinal fusion (SF) via the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS). Methods: : Reports where these drugs were the Primary Suspect in SF-related treatment were selected from FAERS. AEs were categorized using MedDRA Preferred Terms (PT) and System Organ Classes (SOC). Characteristics of reports and temporal trends were evaluated. Analyses were performed at SOC and PT levels, and correlations between osteomyelitis and AEs were assessed. Results: : Females accounted for a higher proportion of levofloxacin reports. Vancomycin was more frequently reported in patients under 18. Congenital anomalies were mainly associated with levofloxacin. Overall reports increased over time. For levofloxacin, musculoskeletal disorders were predominant at the SOC level, with arthralgia common at the PT level. Osteomyelitis was associated with multiple AEs across the four drugs. Conclusion: This analysis of AEs for these antibiotics in SF-related treatment provides references for clinical drug safety.
