Form analysis system: An EEG study of object, Greeble, and word recognition

Abstract

The form analysis system efficiently conceptualizes how object recognition. However, little is known about the neural basis of the form system. The present study aimed to narrow this gap using EEG. Participants were instructed to passively view six types of images: artificial objects, animal headless bodies, plants, Greebles, English words, and Chinese words. A positive wave P200 was observed in picture conditions, but not in words. These results suggest that the form analysis system existed in picture fields.
