Abstract

Objective To evaluate the value and security of diagnosis laparoscopy for female infertility. Methods Retrospective analysis of 4519 women between April 1985 and December 2006 in the Second Hospital of Shanxi Medical University with infertility underwent laparoscopy. Results 91.46% cases of infertile women have pelvic diseases affecting pregnancy, among which the ratio of non-specific pelvic inflammation diseases (non-specific PID),polycystic ovary (PCO),endometriosis (EMS) and female genital tuberculosis (FGT) were 24.56%,19.50%,19.27%,and 17.86% respectively. Between 1985 and 1995,FGT (24.87%) was the first reason in infertility; while between 1996 and 2006,non-specific PID (34.61%) became the most common one,FGT became the forth cause. Non-specific PID and FGT (39.86%) were the first major factor causing obstructed Fallopian tubes, followed by EMS (9.36%). Conclusion Most of infertile women have pelvic diseases affecting pregnancy, and laparoscopy should be advised for the early diagnosis of infertility for those qualified patients and hospitals.
