Abstract
Objective To investigate the concentrations of prostagland in retinol binding protein 4(RBP4) and epithelial neutrophil-activing peptide-78(ENA-78) in serum and peritoneal fluid of women with endometriosis. Methods The study group included 86 samples of peritoneal fluid and serum respectively from patients with endometriosis, and control group included 36 samples of peritoneal fluid and serum respectively from patients without endometriosis(either ovary cyst or uterine myoma). The peritoneal fluids were collected at the time of laparoscopic operation, and the sera were collected before surgery.Concentrations of RBP4 and ENA-78 were determined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Results The peritoneal fluid concentrations of RBP4 and ENA-78 in study group were significantly higher than those of control group(P0.01);and the RBP4 levels of stage Ⅲ,Ⅳ in endometriosis group were significantly higher than those of stage Ⅰ,Ⅱ in endometriosis group in serum and peritoneal fluid(P0.01);and the ENA-78 levels of stage Ⅲ,Ⅳ in endometriosis group were significantly higher than those of stage Ⅰ,Ⅱ in endometriosis group in serum and peritoneal fluid(P0.01).There was positive correlation between the concentrations of RBP4 and ENA-78 in endometriosis group(r=0.72,P0.01).Conclusion The concentrations of RBP4 and ENA-78 in peritoneal fluid were increased in endometriosis. The concentrations of RBP4 and ENA-78 were associated with the extent of endometrosis lesions.
