Abstract

Abstract Using tools to quantify global forest and agricultural area covers and also the food that we produce each year, creates the possibility to develop analysis standards that combine these two different kinds of data temporally and continuously. Intending to bring to light synergies and trade-offs between food production and forest cover area conservation, we created an index called FAVI. The index is a normalization of the area of forests and agriculture, multiplied by the weight of food produced for each country. With important certain restrictions that are explained in the text, this global standard analysis of food production and forest conservation, brings a new form of data analysis for the tables of global food production and forest conservation related discussions forums.
