Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) and C Met in the eutopic endometrium of pelvic endometriosis and the relationship between HGF and C Met in the pathogenesis of endometriosis. Methods The expression of HGF and C Met in the eutopic endometrium of forty five women with pelvic endometriosis(proliferative phase:n=20, secretory phase:n=25)and thirty women without endometriosis(proliferative phase:n=12,secretory phase:n=18)were detected with streptavidin peroxidase(S P) immunohistochemical method. Results (1)The expression of HGF and C Met were markedly higher in the eutopic endometrium of patients with pelvic endometriosis than in that of controls (P=0.006, P=0.001, respectively).(2)There had a positive correlation between the expression of HGF and C Met both in endometriosis and in without endometriosis (r=0.945).(3)We also found a significant correlation of HGF and C Met with menstrual cycle(proliferative was higher than secretory. HGF C Met of control:P=0.015, P=0.023, respectively. HGF C Met of endometriosis:P=0.003, P=0.015). Conclusion Analogous to tumor metastasis and invasive mechanism, HGF and C Met may be involved in the pathogenesis of endometriosis.
