Abstract

Abstract Dynamic model simulation and implementation of a photovoltaic solar powered Permanent magnet DC motor (PMDC) controlled by dual chopper action are studied. The simulation results of the PMDC motor and resistive load excursion are discussed. In order to maximize the power output from the solar array and to make the energy system fully stable under varying photovoltaic condition and load excursions two different controllers developed by Dr. A.M. Sharaf are validated. The basic description of the photovoltaic system and dual controllers are given. The dynamic validation results with and without the controllers are given. The validation results shows an increase in the photovoltaic output power.
