A modified technique to repair severe Ebstein’s anomaly: a monocusp with autologous pericardium

We describe a modified technique for repairing severe Ebstein’s anomalies. The anterior and posterior leaflets were detached from the right ventricle (RV), followed by longitudinal plication of the lateral posterior wall to reduce both the enlarged true tricuspid annulus and the atrialized RV. The separated anterior and posterior leaflets, as well as autologous pericardium of a corresponding size, were sutured on the true tricuspid annulus.The pericardial patch was fixed to the papillary muscle with an artificial tendon. Finally, we closed the atrial septal defect or the patent foramen ovale. Our initial application showed that this technique could effectively repair the tricuspid valve and achieve satisfactory right ventricular function.
