MRI demonstrates an enlarged uterus associated with thickening and blurring of the junctional zone at the posterior fundal and corporal region with multiple T1/T2 hyperintense foci consistent with focal adenomyosis.
Endometriosis of the abdominal wall or C-section scar usually presents with a swelling associated with cyclic pain. MRI is a more specific imaging modality that helps in locating other sites of endometriosis.
MRI study shows bilateral ovarian endometrioma cysts (chocolate cysts) with T2 shading. The close proximity of both ovaries is known as "kissing ovaries" which is caused by adhesions and is considered a sign of pelvic endometriosis.
