A definitive diagnosis can only be made operatively as imaging techniques cannot clearly distinguish small lesions. Additional endoscopic examination such as rectosigmoidoscopy or cytoscopy are only indicated when concrete symptoms are present, e.g. by cyclically recurrent hematuria. Endometriosis is the second most common disease in women of reproductive age. Nevertheless, the data in the literature are very heterogeneous. These show that endometriosis is diagnosed too infrequently and that the time from the beginning of symptoms to a correct diagnosis lasts about 7 years. All of these facts show that the symptoms and complaints must move more into the consciousness of the physician so that endometriosis can no longer be referred to as the “disease without a lobby”.\nSimilar content being viewed by others\nLiteratur\nSchweppe KW (2003) Endometriose: Was tun – und wann?
