Skryabina /\nThe objective. Correlation analysis between the level of intercellular adhesion molecule sICAM-1 and the severity of peritoneal endometriosis.\nPatients and methods. The study included 25 female patients with external genital endometriosis, who underwent surgical treatment, and the diagnosis was histologically confirmed. The levels of sICAM-1 in blood serum and peritoneal fluid were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Statistical processing of the obtained data was performed with the use of the Statistica 5.5 and Biostat software. Methods of descriptive statistics and nonparametric methods were used. The values of sICAM-1 are presented as median ± standard deviation. The difference of concentrations between two compared groups was assessed by the Mann-Whitney nonparametric method. The Spearman method was used to examine correlations.\nResults. The maximum values of the average sICAM-1 level in serum specimens were found in groups of patients with severe and moderate pain syndrome irrespective of the stage of disease. A significant increase of the average serum sICAM-1 level at stages 3–4 of disease was determined in groups with severe pain syndrome and amounted to 1295.00 ± 709.4 ng/ml as compared with the asymptomatic group (240.3 ± 82 ng/ml, р < 0.001).\nConclusion.
