Therefore, angiogenesis\nof the ectopic endometrium is discussed as a crucial step in the development of an\nendometriotic lesion. It is not only the main condition for implantation, but also\na parameter for the clinical activity of endometriosis. Pigmented and non-pigmented\nendometriotic lesions differ according to their clinical activity and angiogenic\npotential.\nUsing a model system of endometriosis, the chorioallantoic membrane assay, mRNA\nexpression of VEGF and matrix metalloproteinases 1 and 2 was analysed. As the most\nrepresentative angiogenic factors, they were correlated to the angiogenic reaction\non the CAM by the vesselindex.\nWe assume that angiogenic activity of ectopic endometrium is a conditio sine qua\nnon for the pathogenesis of endometriosis, but is regulated by different other factors.\nSchlüsselwörter\nEndometriose - Angiogenese - VEGF - Matrix-Metalloproteinase (MMP) - Aktivität - Implantation\nKey words\nEndometriosis - angiogenesis - VEGF - MMP - activity - implantation\nLiteratur\n- 1 Brooks P C, Montgomery A M, Rosenfeld M, Reisfeld R A, Hu T, Klier G, Cheresh D A.
