Methods: A systematic literature review was conducted according to the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, using the PubMed database. Studies evaluating the diagnostic accuracy of TVUS and/or MRI, with surgical and/or histopathological confirmation as the reference standard, were included. Risk of bias was assessed using the QUADAS-2 tool. Results: Ten studies were included. Both methods demonstrated high diagnostic accuracy, varying according to the anatomical location of the lesions. TVUS showed better performance in the posterior compartment, whereas MRI demonstrated advantages in the evaluation of deep and anterior lesions, as well as in determining disease extent. No consistent overall superiority between the methods was observed. Conclusion: TVUS and MRI are complementary methods for the evaluation of DIE. In the Brazilian context, TVUS stands out as the initial imaging modality due to its wide availability and lower cost, whereas MRI is particularly useful in complex cases and preoperative planning.\nReferences\nAlborzi, S., et al.
