[1] The disease mainly affects the pelvis, in particular the ovaries, pelvic peritoneum, pouch of Douglas, rectum, rectosigmoid, rectovaginal septum, uterosacral ligaments (USLs), vagina and urinary bladder. [2] It can manifest itself in chronic pelvic pain or infertility. MRI is known to have a high sensitivity and specificity in diagnosing pelvic endometriosis. Ultrasonography (especially transvaginal), when well performed, has become...\nBackground\nUsing PubMed database with MeSh terms [endometriosis] and [ultrasonography], 12 (out of a total of 39) evidence-based medical articles published from 2007 to the present were selected.\nFindings and procedure details\nAtlas of ultrasonographic images concerning endometriosis :\nTypical endometrioma : unilocular or multilocular (less than 5 locules) cyst, with homogeneous low-level echogenicity (ground glass echogenicity) of the cyst fluid.
