Study Design: Observational study. Place &\nDuration: Department of Pathology, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences from\nJanuary 2014 to March 2016. Subjects & Methods: 300 appendectomy specimens were\ninvestigated. Biodata of patients on Pathological proforma and specimens was noted. 3- 5 μ\ntissue sections of appendectomy were stained with H & Eosin stain for microscopy. Data was\nanalyzed on SPSS version 22.0 (USA) at 95% CI (P ≤ 0.05). Results: Male to female ratio\nwas 3.61:1 (P=0.0001). Mean (± SD) age was 19.5±5.7 years. Acute appendicitis was noted\nin 57.66% of specimens. Unusual histopathological findings noted were adenocarcinoma,\nendometriosis, Crohn`s disease, carcinoid tumors and Enterobius vermicularis. Conclusion:\nUnusual incidental findings emphasize the importance of histopathological examination of\nappendectomy specimen for proper diagnosis and timely intervention.","source_license":"CC0","license_restricted":false}
