A Preliminary Observational Study\nAuthors/Creators\nDescription\nEndometriosis is a chronic gynecological condition associated with pain, reduced quality of life, sleep disturbances, fatigue and considerable psychological burden. The aim of this study was to assess the effects of a series of Lomi Lomi massage sessions on pain intensity, use of analgesics, sleep quality, energy level, emotional well-being and body perception in women diagnosed with or suspected of having endometriosis.\nThe study included 82 women aged 16–56 years and 35 Lomi Lomi massage therapists. Each participant received a series of five massage sessions delivered over approximately 2–2.5 months. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires completed before the intervention, 24 hours after each massage session and 5–6 days after each session. The analysis included subjective assessments of pain, sleep quality, energy level, stress, general well-being, body acceptance and the need for pain medication.\nThe results indicate improvement across several areas of participants’ functioning. After the massage series, participants reported reduced intensity, frequency and duration of pain, including menstrual pain and chronic pain associated with endometriosis. The need for analgesic medication decreased over the course of the intervention. Participants also reported better sleep quality, increased energy, lower stress levels, a greater sense of calm and improved connection with their bodies. Qualitative accounts also described reduced somatic tension, lymphatic swelling and migraines, as well as improved comfort in everyday functioning.\nThis was a preliminary observational study. The findings should be interpreted in the context of self-reported data, self-selection of participants, the absence of a control group and the lack of long-term follow-up. Nevertheless, the results suggest that Lomi Lomi massage may be a valuable, safe and non-pharmacological supportive intervention for women with endometriosis, particularly in the areas of pain reduction, stress regulation and quality-of-life improvement. Further studies using a controlled and randomized design, longer follow-up and objective clinical measures are warranted.\nFiles\nRaport LomiLomi endometriosis English version.pdf\nFiles\n(4.4 MB)\n| Name | Size | Download all |\n|---|---|---|\n|\nmd5:21067d71095c25b7b97563b4f7878203\n|\n4.4 MB | Preview Download |","source_license":"CC0","license_restricted":false}
