{"paper_id":"824da3ee-c666-427e-9d7d-693a076251c5","body_text":"Abstract\nEndometriosis is a chronic gynecological disease characterized by the presence of endometrial glands and stroma beyond the confines of the uterus that frequently leads to chronic pelvic pain, dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, and infertility. Endometriotic lesions exhibit diverse phenotypes: ovarian, superficial, and deep endometriosis. The present chapter describes the application of three-dimensional (3D) ultrasonography in the diagnosis of these different phenotypes of endometriosis including deep endometriosis of the anterior and posterior pelvic compartments and superficial endometriosis, as well as the use of some enhanced techniques as sonovaginography.
