{"paper_id":"6e865265-2164-4514-83f2-c47cd016cf9e","body_text":"Findings of infiltrative endometriosis on magnetic resonance imaging\nDOI:\nhttps://doi.org/10.33448/rsd-v15i6.51259Keywords:\nEndometriosis, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Diagnostic Imaging.Abstract\nDeep infiltrating endometriosis is a gynecological condition characterized by the presence of ectopic endometrial tissue infiltrating more than 5 mm below the peritoneal surface, frequently associated with chronic pelvic pain, infertility, and involvement of adjacent organs. Given the diagnostic complexity and anatomical variability of the disease, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has become an important tool in preoperative evaluation. This study aims to analyze, through an integrative literature review, the main MRI findings in pelvic infiltrating endometriosis, as well as their correlation with surgical and histopathological findings. The search was conducted in the PubMed database, including studies published between 2015 and 2026 that addressed the use of MRI in the evaluation of the disease. The results demonstrate that the most frequent findings include hypointense lesions on T2-weighted images, fibrotic nodules, adhesions, anatomical distortion, and involvement of structures such as the intestine, bladder, and ureters. High concordance was observed between imaging findings and surgical outcomes, reinforcing the accuracy of MRI in mapping the disease. It is concluded that magnetic resonance imaging is a fundamental method for the diagnosis and therapeutic planning of deep infiltrating endometriosis, contributing to a more precise and individualized approach.\nReferences\nAri, S.
