Although pelvic pain and infertility are the predominant presenting problems, endometriosis frequently produces no symptoms. It is diagnosed in more than 10% of fertile women undergoing sterilization procedures.2 Since the basic knowledge of its pathophysiology is lacking, therapy remains controversial and, in many cases, palliative. Treatment may be medical, surgical, or both. Surgery may be conservative or radical therapy, and may be performed by open laparotomy or by operative laparoscopy.\nPreview\nUnable to display preview.
