Charakteristisch sind Infertilität und chronische Schmerzzustände. Darüber hinaus besteht ein 2‑ bis 4‑fach erhöhtes Risiko zur Entwicklung eines Ovarialkarzinoms. Die Molekularpathologie kennt inzwischen somatische Gen-Alterationen, die potenziell zu Endometriose und auch zu einer malignen Transformation führen können. Genomische Alterationen liegen nahe, sind aber zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt noch eher spekulativ.\nAbstract\nEndometriosis is a disease with a highly complex pathology.
