Endometriosis of\nthe small bowel, especially symptomatic small bowel involvement, is very\nunusual. Case report. We presented a 45-year-old woman with acute intestinal\nobstruction due to ileal endometriosis The patient complained of severe\nabdominal pain, nausea and vomitting. Immediate laparotomy was carried out.\nAbove the ileocecal valve there was an ulcerated, edematous and fragile\nsegmental lesion that caused intestinal obstruction. Histology of this ileal\nsegment revealed endometriosis and an annular stricture that again showed\nfoci of endometriosis. Conclusion. In reproductiveage women with the symptoms\nof intestinal obstruction, intestinal endometriosis should be kept in mind.
