The present study consisted of an integrative literature review based on data from PubMed, SciELO, and LILACS, covering the period from 2020 to 2025. The results demonstrate that the interval for definitive diagnosis still averages seven to ten years, influenced by the normalization of menstrual pain and the lack of effective screening in primary care. The discussion highlights that the use of ultrasound with bowel preparation and magnetic resonance imaging is crucial for lesion mapping, preventing diagnostic delays from resulting in high-morbidity surgical interventions. It is concluded that early diagnosis is fundamental to preserving women's quality of life and fertility, requiring professional training and the democratization of access to specialized examinations.\nReferências\nABRÃO, Maurício S. et al.
