{"paper_id":"3fa0d44d-5d0a-4289-a7e3-6393b9fd0792","body_text":"Abstract\nComplications of laparoscopic surgery are in fact fewer than those reported for laparotomy [1], but their potential severity and the failure to diagnose them quickly and treat them effectively means that the patient can be severely ill before a diagnosis is made, with catastrophic results. Inadvertent bowel injury at laparotomy is regarded as a recognized hazard, particularly during adhesiolysis.
