Up to 70% of adult endometriosis patients state that their symptoms started before their 20s. Early diagnosis and interventions will contribute to better quality of life in adolescents. Surgery is almost always done laparoscopically with the catchphrase “See and Treat.” Staging of the disease is determined by abdominal observation at the beginning of surgery. Normal anatomy is then restored via adhesion removal followed by excision or ablation of the lesions. If deeply infiltrative endometriosis is diagnosed during dissection, nodules should be removed as they are the origins of pain rather than the endometriomas. Postoperative hormonal therapy should continue until the patient desires conception.\nAccess this chapter\nTax calculation will be finalised at checkout\nPurchases are for personal use only\nSimilar content being viewed by others\nReferences\nRedwine DB.
