Baranov has not informed HSTalks of any commercial/financial relationship that it is appropriate to disclose.\nA selection of talks on Genetics & Epigenetics\nTranscript\nPlease wait while the transcript is being prepared...\n0:00\nToday, I wish to present a lecture about \"Developmental Genetics of Endometriosis\".\nIn the present lecture, I wish to call your attention to our new hypothesis of endometriosis,\nwhich we call \"developmental genomics of endometriosis\".\n0:19\nThe title of my lecture is proved by a well-known fact\nthat almost 100 years past since endometriosis,\nas a chronic disease,\nwas first described by Karl Rokitiansky in\n1860 as a chronic estrogen-dependent inflammatory heritable disease,\naffecting and debilitating approximately five to\n10 percent of all women in their early reproductive age.\nThe problem of endometriosis remains in the focus of\nintensive clinical and medical inspection as scientifical studies.\nIn spite of enormous effort,\na lot of information on numerous genetic, epigenetic,\nendocrine, immunological studies, the pathogenesis of\nendometriosis still remains enigmatical.\nIn our famous Ott's Institute of Obstetrics,\nGynecology and Reproductology in Saint-Petersburg,\nRussia, the problem of endometriosis is in the focus of\nclinical laboratory and theoretical studies for over 30 years.\n1:25\nThis slide shows basic theories and hypotheses of endometriosis known so far,\nbut there are a lot of them.\nOver 10 of these basic hypotheses and\ntheories tried to provide the clue to solve the endometriosis problem.\nThey include the old but still widely accepted transplantation theory,\nsuggested by J.A. Sampson in 1922.\nLatest implemented as different immunological-toxicology location,\nand hormonal dysregulation theory.\nGenetic and epigenetic views of endometriosis pathology are\nespecially numerous and prevailed at the present endometriosis study.\nWith a suggestion made by Dr. Meyer on the dormant stem cells\nin peritoneum and abnormalities altering the development suspected by the Italian scientist's\nSignorile group in 2012,\ndeserve special attention in view of our recent hypothesis,\npostulating the existence of special genetic program,\noperative in the development of endometriosis.\nTheir basic conclusion drawn from this theory is quite obvious.\nClinical studies identified in today's genes specific\nmicroRNA called human sequencing, expression profile, immunological, and\nhormonal. And epigenetic data on the pathogenesis of endometriosis are numerous,\nbut they are still full of contradiction,\nand unanimously confirm the general hormonal,\nmonologic biochemical deregulation of endometriosis effect in human.\nBut, none of these theories or hypotheses provide suitable guides\non understanding the intimate pathophysiological mechanism of endometriosis,\nits origin and progression.","source_license":"CC0","license_restricted":false}
