{"paper_id":"26c85252-94f5-47c7-8edb-b81055c6c4e8","body_text":"Samenvatting\nDysmenorroe is een veelvoorkomende gynaecologische klacht bij vrouwen in de fertiele levensfase in de huisartsenpraktijk en een frequente bron van werk- en schoolverzuim. Een van de meest voorkomende aantoonbare oorzaken van dysmenorroe is endometriose. Dit ziektebeeld wordt gedefinieerd als het voorkomen van endometriumachtig weefsel buiten de uterus. Het is geassocieerd met pijn in het kleine bekken en subfertiliteit. De klinische presentatie is zeer heterogeen, wat vaak leidt tot een lange vertraging in het stellen van de diagnose. Diagnostiek bestaat naast een zorgvuldige anamnese en gynaecologisch onderzoek uit vaginale echografie en eventueel MRI, met als gouden standaard laparoscopische visualisatie. Endometriose is een chronische aandoening die de kwaliteit van leven nadelig kan beïnvloeden. Behandeling kan bestaan uit pijnstilling, hormonale therapie en chirurgie, zo nodig aangevuld met geassisteerde voortplanting. Ernstige diepe endometriose is een uitermate complex ziektebeeld en behoeft multidisciplinaire behandeling in gespecialiseerde centra. Een curatieve behandeling voor endometriose is vooralsnog niet voorhanden.
