In 2023, the proportion of elderly people aged 65 and above in Hong Kong reached 21%, which is expected to increase to 36% by 2046. This study explores the innovative development of smart technology in elderly care services in Hong Kong and the main challenges it faces. Through a literature review, the impact of smart monitoring systems, smart home devices and health monitoring tools on social workers and elderly users was analyzed. The study found that social workers face challenges such as technology acceptance, privacy security, training support and uncertainty in funding sources when using smart technologies. In addition, the study pointed out that the role of social workers has changed in the process of combining with technology, and they need to adapt to new ways of working to provide more personalized services.
