It is a recognized surgical emergency, especially when additional systemic symptoms are associated. There are two main differential diagnoses: ovary/adnexal torsion and massive infarct inside a common leiomyoma. The diagnosis can be established by computed tomographic features. Ultrasound examination is less sensitive.\nReferences\nWT Creasman (1994) Disorders of the uterine corpus JR Scott (Eds) Danforth’s obstetrics and gynecology Lippincott Philadelphia 925–955\nJH Lee YK Jeong JH Park JC Hwang (2003) ArticleTitle“Ovarian vascular pedicle” sign revealing organ of origin of a pelvic mass lesion on Helical CT AJR 181 131–137 Occurrence Handle12818843 Occurrence Handle10.2214/ajr.181.1.1810131\nH Ueda K Togahi I Konishi et al.
