This method adopts the Lagrange multiplier to incorporate the normal and tangential forces into the equation of motion when there is a friction unidirectional constraint in the system, and the normal and tangential collision laws can be expressed by the unilateral primitive and the set-value function, which transforms the multi-body system friction-contact problem into a linear complementary problem (LCP). The dynamics equations are solved by time-stepping method. Furthermore, this study presents a comprehensive analysis of the dynamic reliability modeling of the mechanism and proposes a novel approach for modeling the reliability of reciprocating mechanisms. The proposed method utilizes Monte Carlo Simulation to accurately estimate the failure strength and reliability of the mechanism at various positions. Finally, a typical reciprocating mechanism, firearms automaton, is used to prove the scientific validity and feasibility of the method. Calculation results indicate that the existence of the translational clearance has a notable impact on the dynamic response and the motion reliability results of the automaton, and the fluctuation range of the normal displacement of the bolt carrier expands with the increase of the clearance. The translational clearance exerts a more significant impact on the motion reliability of the automaton compared to the initial energy of the automaton.
