Endometriosis is defined as ectopic endometrial tissue, usually located in the pelvis. In spite of a large number of investigations, the pathogenesis of this disorder has remained unknown. Symptomatic disease is characterized generally by pain (dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, and pain on vaginal examination) and occasionally by a palpable mass (e.g., ovarian cysts). It is assumed that endometriosis accounts for 10%–20% of all female infertility. Presently, various therapeutic approaches can be taken, once the disease is detected by laparoscopy or laparotomy. Although the surgical removal of the implants or cysts is often attempted, medical treatment is usually administered.\nPreview\nUnable to display preview.
